ASL Rose Newsletter
Vol. 1 No. 5
May 2007
Mayday! Mother’s Day! What special gifts did you give your mother? Roses and boxes of candy are quite outdated. Do you want to give your mother something exceptional? How about something creative, unique, and whimsical? ASL Rose is proud to provide you with the perfect gift, Have You Ever Seen…? An American Sign Language (ASL) Handshape DVD/Book. When you check the front page of our website, www.aslrose.com, you will see Pinky Aiello juggling the book, DVD, and a vase of roses, a gift that every mother would love!

And mothers deserve the best. Think about it: mothers juggle several tasks every single day, such as taking care of children, maintaining the household, going shopping, making sure everyone in the family is happy . . . and all this on top of other jobs they might have. Pinky Aiello is not a yet a mother, but she is an excellent performer. She recently released her first DVD, which explains how to use video relay services. It is hilarious! A must have! You can order it via www.pinkythejuggler.com. Keep an eye on the site; she has a second DVD coming soon. We can’t wait to see it!
Perhaps one of the best gifts we can give someone is the gift of laughter. This is especially true for those of us who are hard working, underappreciated mothers!
ASL Rose wishes to honor every mother who has brought us caring, loving, and nurturing children. This month, in recognition of wonderful mothers everywhere, we have a special deal for you: only 65 dollars. This onetime special may not occur again, so grab the opportunity while you can! You will save $20! We would like to send out a very special thank you to Pinky for creating such funny, colorful graphic artwork.
We are currently seeking artwork: art, graphic arts and photography for the many months ahead. If you are interested in submitting your work, please contact info@aslrose.com. We offer the choice of money or a free HYES HS DVD/Book in exchange for your artwork.
Mayday! Colleges and Universities are closing for the summer. Students are packing up and getting ready to go home or go on vacation. Students may want a fun book to read and/or DVD to view. Our product is the perfect for just that purpose! The DVD is a light, informative gift that can be used with your computer or portable TV.
At some of our workshops, participants have asked us if this product can be bought from other bookstores. ASL Rose products are sold in collaboration with Gallaudet Bison Shop, DawnSignPress, BuyASL, Amazon.com, Borders, and Barnes and Noble (soon). Those bookstores do not offer the same special deals as the one we are offering this month. Feel free to purchase your DVD and book anywhere—we encourage you to visit those bookstores as well. They provide quality products and have years of excellent service.
These days, we are busy with several adventures: providing workshops, creating more materials, and training teachers at schools/colleges/universities/ASLTA chapters. We need to spread our peoplepower by working with other businesses to distribute our product(s) so that we may continue to create more ASL-English materials. We very much appreciate our business with the various bookstores above and want to thank them for their hard work (many of their employees are mothers, too!).
On the topic of ASLTA chapters: we recently gave a mini one-hour workshop at the Frederick ASLTA chapter and we had so much to share that we ran overtime! In addition to an intensive discussion about the benefits of sharing information about Deaf Culture, we provided a short demonstration discussing the benefits of ASL Rhymes. We had a lot of fun with the participants!
We will provide an all-day workshop for the Frederick ASLTA chapter again on September 8th at Frederick Community College. Please check www.frederickaslta.org to sign up for this workshop. This particular workshop will include a demonstration of this product and participants may earn continuing education units. This is fun, exciting way to maintain your professional training – in education, ASLTA, RID or state certification.
Another upcoming workshop is Veditz ASLTA on June 2nd. This workshop will also be an all-day training, during which time we will provide hands-on activities that will teach participants how to use our product in your ASL, Deaf Studies, elementary, middle school, high school, colleges/universities and parent education classes. Please apply for this workshop.
We will hold off on providing any workshops throughout the summer months. We want to focus on new products and take some vacation time. However, we are looking forward to working with many wonderful organizations to provide workshops – Greater NY ASLTA, National ASLTA and many more.
We recently developed a new web-based TV advertisement. View the advertisement. Brittany Bravin Skjeveland is the star of this show, and her family is also involved. It is a funny and true story that discusses things that keep mothers busy all day! We hope you enjoy watching it!
If you have funny stories, pictures, or videos to share about our product send them to us. We would be more than happy to put your experiences and testimonies on our website to share with others.
In the near future, we will have more web-based TV advertisements, ASL Literature genres, and other interesting tidbits on our website. You may want to submit yours! Send them to info@aslrose.com. Again, as always, we appreciate your support.
Before we conclude this newsletter, let us send out a heartfelt thank you to our mothers with this product! Again, we are offering a special price of only $65, from May 1st to May 31st, 2007 at midnight. Buy it now for your mother!
May all mothers be blessed with generosity and unconditional love.
