ASL Rose Newsletter
Vol. 1 No. 4
April 2007

Hi everyone! We hope you’re doing well. Daylight savings time came early this year, so we have more hours of light now—which means more time to enjoy the outdoors, get some gardening work done, and practice ASL on warm spring evenings!

How have you been? March went out like a lamb, and now it’s April—and you know that “April showers bring May flowers!” In our case here at ASL Rose, it’s “April showers bring ASL rhymes!” As you can see, it’s raining ASL Rose! That cute kid sure is enjoying the rain, and all the books and DVDs coming down…! ASL rhymes are an important part of our materials, and a part of ASL too—storytelling, rhyming, A-Z and 1-10 stories… all of these use similar handshapes, reinforce ASL vocabulary, and entertain people of all ages! Oh, and books like Have You Ever Seen…? An American Sign Language (ASL) Handshape DVD/Book reinforces bilingualism, too!

We’ve been keeping busy! Our exhibitions at the KDES Tech Fair in DC and at the Deaf Nation Expo in Richmond, VA were successful! We were thrilled to see so many people and to have the opportunity to share our work with you. We’ll have even more chances to meet you, because this month we’ll be in three different states at different events! First, we’ll be at the Union County College ASL Festival on April 14, in New Jersey! From the Garden State, we’ll come back home to Maryland to do a presentation for ASLTA at CSD in Frederick, Maryland on April 21. We’ll be there to meet you, introduce you to our products, and celebrate ASL!

Conventions, expos, and other types of events aren’t the only way to meet us. We offer presentations and trainings about our products for K-12 and college programs, and we can also arrange book signing parties to be scheduled during the training/presentation. Get in touch with us today so we can help you use our books and materials to the best possible effect!

We also have some exciting news—our very own Dr. Jacobowitz has been chosen as the Deaf person of the month at www.deafpeople.com/dp_of_month/jacobowitz.html. Do check it out, and handwaves to Dr. E. Lynn Jacobowitz!

Don’t forget April 15 is Income Tax Day! Because it’s on a Sunday, we all have until April 17 to file our taxes. Here at ASL Rose, it’ll be the first year we have to report sales taxes. Poor us! Good luck with YOUR taxes!

Last month’s promotion of 5 DVD/Books for 4 was successful—while that special offer has ended, we are offering something special for the month of April! The 15th may be Income Tax Day, but the month is 15% off your ASL Rose purchases—all month long! This offer is good from April 1-30, so don’t delay; take advantage TODAY!

As always, we appreciate and support, Deaf artists. Our materials feature the work of different artists, and we want to do the same here at our newsletter and website. This month’s artist is Yiqiao Wang! Our past newsletter/webpage artists include our long-time artist, Tami Davidson, Dan McClintock, and Uzi Bugalo. If you are a Deaf artist or know one, please contact us. We’d love to have you illustrate our newsletter and/or website!

[April Fool’s! We don’t have to report sales taxes yet—so no costs to pass on to you! There’s no foolin’ about federal taxes though, so remember to send in your taxes by April 17th! That’s the only joke, though—DO take advantage of all our other offers and information in this newsletter!]
