Memorial Day Holiday in ASL and
a Company in Spotlight - ASL Rose, LLC.

Hello there!

While a number of us are already planning ahead for the slightly longer holiday weekend, we wanted to share with you a couple of useful videos and our recognition of an amazing American Sign Language educational multimedia company, ASL Rose, LLC.

Memorial Day Observance

All of us here will take the time to observe Memorial Day, which is a United States federal holiday commemorating U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. Please feel free to click on the thumbnail below, which will take you directly to the video to learn several American Sign Language signs about the holiday, as presented by Gilda Ganezer.

A Company in Spotlight

As some of you may be aware, Everyday ASL Productions, Ltd. is a company founded by an all-Deaf family of ASL educators and filmmakers. We have climbed over quite a few mountains of "obstacles" to just be able to make a difference in a mainstreamed society by means of providing bilingual and bicultural education via American Sign Language. After years of teaching and curriculum developing, we were and still are continuously reminded by the importance of promoting bilingualism, with use of ASL and English, which plays a vital role in boosting children's reading, writing and communication skills. This experience, both personally and professionally, has given us much insight and to ultimately, yet indubitably, admire toward other companies of similar background and drive to bring the world of American Sign Language closer to every individual via DVDs and books. There is a company that we would like to share with you, that is, ASL Rose, LLC. which is run by a team of dynamic ASL professionals - Dr. E. Lynn Jacobowitz and
Dr. Adonia K. Smith.

ASL Rose does many things. The primary focus of the company is to create, publish and distribute ASL-English bilingual educational materials. The first product coming out from ASL Rose "Have You Ever Seen...? An American Sign Language (ASL) Handshape DVD/Book" has received at least five positive reviews. There will be another product on the shelf soon by ASL Rose, "Waving Hands" in both DVD/book that portrays Deaf role models. ASL Rose publishes newsletters from time to time to keep the readers pulsated on hot topics in the Deaf community. ASL Rose also maintains a Creative Arts category that truly captivates the attention of children and adults alike with ASL Poetry.

We saw how Dr. Jacobowitz and Dr. Smith fill their hearts with much love, understanding and dedication towards successful language development among Deaf children as well as other youngsters learning American Sign Language. Dr. Jacobowitz and Dr. Smith takes every step in ensuring amazing edutainment products for children and their families; no question about it.

Better yet, ASL Rose offers a fabulous list of Deaf-related websites that are worth visiting. All in all, ASL Rose is like the city that never sleeps and is always there for you when you need help. Please visit the website aslrose.com to learn more about the company.

Above all, if we were at liberty to rate this company, we would give them six stars!

See Avery Interact with Animals in ASL

We would like to conclude this newsletter with another video treat for you. As the number of trips to zoos and/or animal farms start to escalate throughout this summer for some families and individuals, we'd like to present a short video clip showing how Avery Posner interacted with a flock of sheep; and even how these little darlings were exposed to him using ASL. This video is an excerpt from the American Sign Language for Kids & Adults, Vol. 2: Visiting the Zoo DVD.
